Two zip codes in Charlotte among the nation’s top for apartment construction

Over the past five years, two Charlotte zip codes have been among the top 50 nationwide for booming apartment construction. Zip 28262, which covers the University City and Mallard Creek areas, has seen more than 3,526 new apartments and Zip 28202 in Uptown has seen 2,837 new apartments. Experts attribute this growth to the age demographics and amenities in each area, as well as the transportation options and population gains that Charlotte has seen. Yardi Matrix forecasts thousands of new apartments coming as more people move to the city each day.
